LOCKDOWN: INSIDE MAXIMUM SECURITY PART 3 OF 3 In Supermax prisons, prisoners are generally allowed out of their cells for only an hour a day; often they are kept in solitary confinement. They receive their meals through "food ports" ("bean holes") in the doors of their cells. Prisoners are given no work and very little access to leisure activities, though some categories of prisoners are allowed to have a television. When Supermax inmates are allowed to exercise, this may take place in a small, enclosed area where the prisoner will exercise alone. Prisoners are under constant surveillance, usually with closed-circuit television cameras. Cell doors are usually opaque, while the cells may be windowless. Conditions are spartan, with poured concrete or metal furniture common. Often cell walls, and sometimes plumbing, are soundproofed to prevent communication between the inmates. Supermax and Security Housing Unit (SHU) prisons are controversial, as some claim that they violate the United States Constitution. In 1996, a United Nations team assigned to investigate torture described SHU conditions as "inhuman and degrading". Proponents say that Supermax prisons offer a way to contain prisoners that could otherwise harm or be harmed by the general prison population, especially more infamous individuals who wouldn't function well in a general prison population. A Supermax prison intended to fulfill such a role is the Federal ADMAX, or administrative maximum security, prison in Florence, Colorado, west of Pueblo. LOCKDOWN: INSIDE MAXIMUM SECURITY PART 2 OF 3 The Minnesota Correctional Facility - Oak Park Heights (MCF-OPH) is a state prison located in Stillwater, Minnesota, USA. Constructed in 1983, MCF-OPH is the state's only Level 5 (Maximum) Custody Level prison, with an inmate population of 426. The facility is home to some of the state's most violent offenders, as well as a fair number of out-of-state commits and federal inmates. The prison is comprised of nine self-sustaining living units, referred to as Complexes. The first six each house 52 offenders and include shower facilities, eating areas and exercise equipment. Two of the three remaining complexes house mental health facilities and a transitional care unit. The MHU and TCU both handle inmates from the entire Minnesota DOC who require the unique services of those units. The ninth unit, completed in 2001, is the state's Administrative Control Unit. The ACU is sometimes referred to as "Super-Seg" and houses the most violent offenders in an environment nearly completely free of contact with staff. MCF-OPH is home to the MN DOC Commissary program. Inmates who qualify for work programs are employed to processes and package commissary orders from the other state correctional facilities. "LDN" is a single by Lily Allen which was released in the UK on 25 September 2006. It was co-written by Future Cut, and features a sample of "Reggae Merengue", written by Arthur "Duke" Reid and Tommy McCook. The song was originally released on strictly limited edition 7" vinyl (500 copies) in the UK on 24 April 2006, accompanied by album track, "Knock 'Em Out," and was re-released in September following the huge success of Allen's second single "Smile". There have been two music videos made for "LDN," the first being a low budget affair to promote the original 7" release and the second to promote the re-release. * The first version of the video, recorded in speed-up camera, follows Allen riding her bike through London. It depicts many positive aspects of London, showing her taking a friendly photograph with a police officer, greeting a passer-by, eating at an ice cream cafe and relaxing in the public park, seeing people playing and having fun. * The second version of the "LDN" video was produced to be more in line with the song's lyrics, particularly, "When you look with your eyes, everything looks nice, but if you look twice, you can see it's all lies." It opens with Allen in a record store asking the store manager for an eclectic piece of music, satirising keywords that have been used to describe her album - "punky, electronica kindof, grime kinda like new-wave grime, kindof maybe like more broken-beats like kindof dubbie broken beats but a little bit kinda a bit soulful like high drum n bassy but kinda more broken drum and bass".
